Hey there!

’ll bet you’d like to know about manifesting abundance in your life. It all starts with how you set up your day for success!

I’m Kathryn Wilking; I’m an Author, FS Expert and Podcast host. We are broadcasting today on the World Wide Wisdom Channel

Did you know that choosing an organized lifestyle can make, or break your day?

Let’s go with the mentality that we are going to surround ourselves with the things we LOVE! It’s that simple. CHOOSE to cultivate joy in your life! Even choosing a colorful coffee cup can bring joy to your morning ritual.

Morning rituals are often easier than most: you have a routine for self grooming, hair, makeup and such, so why can’t the rest of the day flow too?

If the very first thing you look at when you wake up is a laundry basket full of dirty clothes or an open closet spilling out its contents… right away, your messy space begins to influence your messy mind!

If you are planning to manifest an abundant life, Let’s touch on a few things today.

Do you make your bed each day? So, what’s the big deal?

Well, did you know, even the military has everyone make their bed! It teaches discipline, respect for your sleeping space and ultimately, if you don’t know what the day has in store for you… you’ve got the first ‘win’ of the day accomplished.

Another thing, change comes from the inside out! Let’s organize your underwear drawer when you are putting things away! That’s right?

Base layers are important; the items closest to you skin.

Toss out anything that is old, stained, ripped and -you get the drift… and then fold and organize which items you wish to keep. Taking care of YOU is a BIG STEP to starting the day off right! We did this as a group exercise in my FB group… with a lot of giggles and comments…. One lady in the group declared ‘Kathryn, I haven’t folded my underwear for over 40 yrs, why would I wish to do that now?

Well Margie, folding your underwear is another way that your brain sees organization and routine in your day; just like making your bed!

~ Try it for a few weeks and see if your mornings are less stressed.

Going through the house and sort your personal items, makeup, closet, shoes, purses, all need to be addressed regularity; not only will you have more room in your home, you’ll be able to think straighter.

The saying: A messy house is housing a messy mind. It’s TRUE!

While we are on the topic of ‘stuff’ in our stuffed homes… collections can be the worst!

When does an item become a collection?

Two is a pair. Three is a group. Four is ….a collection?

We are talking about a group of tangible items that just don’t have a place. Have you ever wondered how you ever collected so much stuff?

I always ask people about their collections.

There are a couple different ways how ‘stuff’ gets out-of-hand.

Today we look at three ways that collections can spin OUT OF CONTROL!

  1. Friends of ours got married years ago. Somewhere-somehow, they ended up with a plush sheep.

The couple placed it on their coffee table for no particular reason. Whenever someone picked it up, the sheep went BAAAaaaaa. So cute!

The sheep turned into a conversation piece. Whenever guests came over they’d all participate. Eventually, everyone that visited brought them more sheep. Any facsimile of a sheep: Birthday cards, pictures of sheep, plush sheep, glass sheep, wood carvings…you name it! Before they knew it they were living in a ‘sheep house’.

Baaaa…

  1. A client of mine had a similar issue with collection, she collected porcelain Royal Daulton dolls

I asked her about these dolls. Her husband bought one for her early on and she loved it. Then, he bought her one every birthday and Xmas for the next 15 years, resulting in a lot of dolls!

Maybe, he never knew what to buy her and this seemed to please her somehow.

They ended up buying a huge curio cabinet to display the figurines, taking up a lot of real estate in the house.
The collection had taken over other things in her life:  floor space, dusting, AND all the money spent for these porcelain dolls!

The key QUESTION: Did she really want the focal-point in her living room to BE these expensive dolls?

  1. Then, there’s my brother-in-law years, he collects lions. His last name translates to ‘lion’, so that seemed to be the connection. He collected high-end lions of all shapes and sizes; carvings and pictures filled his bachelor home. When he got married him, the two of them learned to blend their things together. The lions were given their own space to shine without overpowering their home. Respect and balance is important, both ways.

BEWARE of these advertising tactics these days:

  • Be sure to collect the whole set!
  • Since you bought this –you might like this!
  • Be the first on your block!
  • Upgrade to…
  • Bigger and better…

…and so on.

People FEEL more in control when making decisions, growing their collections and boasting their possessions to a larger audience.

These ‘collections’ can GO either way:

These ‘collections’ can GO either way:

YAY: If the things you like to collect bring you joy everyday, then go for it! It’s up to you to arrange your space to work for you.

NAY: If your ‘stuff’ is making your stressed out or becoming unmanageable or a safety hazard to self or others.

Set some boundaries and tell all of your friends: You don’t have to please others, just yourself.

Taking charge of your space is really about… taking charge of your life!

You too, can have a Feng Shui DAY.
